• Best Time to Visit Zanzibar
Zanzibar is a beautiful destination year-round, with warm tropical temperatures throughout the year. The dry seasons from June to October and from December to March are generally considered the best times to visit, offering sunny days and calm seas. However, even during the green seasons, Zanzibar remains a wonderful place to relax and explore.
  • VISA and Travel Insurance
Most visitors traveling to Zanzibar are required to obtain a tourist visa to enter Tanzania. This can usually be arranged upon arrival at the airport or online through the Tanzania Immigration website. We recommend checking the visa requirements for your nationality prior to travel to ensure a smooth arrival.

Please note that effective from 1 October 2024, all foreign visitors traveling to Zanzibar are required to obtain Inbound Travel Insurance issued by the Zanzibar Insurance Corporation (ZIC) prior to arrival. This insurance can be purchased online through the official website: visitzanzibar.go.tz. We also recommend that travelers maintain their personal travel insurance in addition to this mandatory coverage.
  • Dress Code & Local Culture
Zanzibar is rich in culture and traditions deeply influenced by Swahili heritage and Islamic values. While beachwear is perfectly acceptable within hotel grounds and beach areas, visitors are encouraged to dress modestly when visiting villages, towns, or Stone Town out of respect for local customs.

As Zanzibar is a predominantly Muslim society, we kindly ask guests to be mindful of local traditions when exploring the island. Light clothing that covers shoulders and knees is generally appreciated in public areas outside the hotel.
  • Food
Zanzibar offers a rich culinary experience influenced by Swahili, Arabic, Indian, and international flavors. Fresh seafood, tropical fruits, spices, and coconut-based dishes are local highlights. At Passion Boutique Hotel, our restaurant focuses on fresh ingredients and carefully prepared dishes inspired by both local and international cuisine
  • Money
The local currency is the Tanzanian Shilling (TZS), although US Dollars are widely accepted in many hotels and tourist areas. Please ensure that USD notes are from 2007 or newer, as older notes are not accepted in Tanzania. Credit card payments are accepted at Passion Boutique Hotel without additional charges.
  • Transport
Zanzibar is easily accessible by international and domestic flights via Abeid Amani Karume International Airport (ZNZ). Passion Boutique Hotel can assist with arranging reliable airport transfers and around the island. Taxis and private drivers are the most convenient way to explore Zanzibar.

    Renting a Car or Motorbike
Guests who wish to explore the island independently may choose to rent a car or motorbike. When driving in Zanzibar, you must carry your valid driving licence together with a Zanzibar Driving Permit, which can usually be arranged through the rental company. Please note that driving in Zanzibar is on the left-hand side of the road, and speed limits should always be respected, particularly in towns and villages. Drivers are encouraged to remain attentive to pedestrians, cyclists, and local traffic conditions.

  • Ocean Tides
The coastline of Zanzibar follows a natural tidal rhythm, meaning the ocean level changes throughout the day. During low tide, the sea gently recedes and reveals beautiful sandbanks and marine life, while high tide allows for swimming directly from the beach. This natural phenomenon is part of the island’s unique beauty and charm.

  • Plastic Bags
Plastic bags are strictly banned in Tanzania to protect the environment. Visitors are advised not to bring plastic bags into the country, as they may be confiscated at the airport. We encourage the use of reusable bags during your stay.
